Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre was established in 1998 with 1 conference venue and 80 accommodation rooms. From these humbling beginnings, “Birchwood” underwent 4 phases of expansion and today boasts 665 accommodation and just over 50 conference rooms. Spanning over 46 acres of land, Birchwood is South Africa’s largest independent hotel & conference centre capable of hosting over 5 000 delegates at once.

 

10 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport and easily accessible from 3 major highways, Birchwood is a conveniently located venue for all commuters. In addition to this, Birchwood also offers a complimentary scheduled shuttle service to and from the airport as well as the nearby East Rand Mall shopping centre.

Conference rooms range from intimate 4 seater boardrooms to the name sake OR Tambo Centre which can seat up to 1 500 delegates cinema style. There are a variety of different size conference rooms and set-ups available accommodating plenary sessions; board meetings; products launches; training sessions or even exhibitions. The 164 seater auditorium and several other rooms have vehicle access allowing heavy machinery and other large equipment to be displayed in the venue. No matter what requirement you may have, Birchwood has a solution. Your conferencing will also never be interrupted as Birchwood has installed back-up generators throughout the property for added convenience. In addition to conferencing, there are several venues suitable for gala dinners, award ceremonies and banquets.
